Matthias sat up in bed. Piercing blue eyes looking over to the clock. He gasped and yelled out loud "7:25! I'm going to be late again! Nnnnoooo!" He jumped out of bed and ran into the bathroom. Quickly getting cleaned up and then running back into his room stark naked. Why should he care anyway? No one was home, they were all gone and had just forgotten to wake him up. He quickly grabbed some boxers and socks, putting them both on. Then grabbing his pre-faded jeans and slipping them on. Then getting himself one of his shirts. He didn't check to see which shirt it was. He ran downstairs, grabbing a granola bar and his bookbag and running outside to his car. It was a 1975 Ford, not very pretty, but it got him where he was going. That was all that mattered to him.
Matthias turned the car on and took off down the street. Well that was after running over the garbage cans as he backed out. School was about a mile away. He looked at the clock that was in his car. "7:45," he said, " I just might make it, just might." He skidded into the student parking lot and to the first spot he saw. Which, at 7:45 was not a very good spot. He turned the car off, remembering his keys and jumping out with his bookbag. He took off for the school.
The tardy bell rang as Matthias literally dove into his first class of the day. Several people laughed at his stunt, others clapped and a few of the preppies rolled their eyes.
He walked to his seat, the teacher giving him a smirk. "Well done Mr. Semithis" said the teacher. "Thank you! Thank you!" Matthias said and took a comical bow before the teacher gave him a look saying that it was over. Matthias sat down again and got ready for another day of fun time and disappointments.
Matthias walked into his sixth class of the day. This was his favorite class of the day. The reason for this was because Jade was in this class. Oh, just the mention of that name sent him into a little fantasy world of him and Jade together forever. He sat down in his seat and waited anxiously for her to enter. It was a few minutes before she came, but she eventually did. Jade walked into that room. She was the best example of the female species he had ever seen. Black high heels clicking the ground gently as she walked across the tile floor. Her raven black hair highlighted with dark purple all through it going down her back. Eyes just like his gave her the appearance of a goddess in this boy's eye. There was no way this was just a schoolboy crush, he had had this love for her since he was 10 years old and had first laid eyes on her.
Matthias sighed as she sat down in the seat in front of him. They were sort of good friends, but never had been really anything more. "H-hi Jade" said Matthias as she sat down. Jade smiled gently, making Matthias melt right there, and spoke "Hey Matthias". That was all they spoke the entire class period, but it was enough to make Matthias' day.
*RRRIINNNGGGGG*. Finally the last hour bell rang as Matthias walked down the hall and to his locker. Getting some books for homework he then set off on the walk to his car. Walking outside of school a few people knocked into him, nothing new. He was always getting ignored for some reason. He never gave it much anymore as he shrugged it off and walked to his car. Getting in he turned it on and drove off towards home.
But today wouldn't be a normal day for Matthias, oh no. As he drove home he got lost, something that never had happened to him. Especially on a ride from school to his home. Going down the unfamiliar street someone darted out in front of the car and Matthias slammed on the brakes. He got out of the car to see if everything was all right. "Huh?" said Matthias as he noticed that there was no one there. Maybe his mind had played tricks on him? He walked to the front of the car to see if there was any damage, or worse, blood. But he found something else there that he hadn't expected to see. A single red feather was lying on the ground in front of the car. Matthias picked it up and looked it over. It wasn't a Cardinal feather, even if it was red. It was so big, and so bright even in the darkness of the night. Then a shock of pain whipped through Matthias and everything went dark. No one could say when his eyes would open again.
