Ravens wings fill the sky
Day becomes night
A gathering storm.
The crows watch from on high
Their ebon eyes bore deep.

A wind howls between branches
Of an ancient oak, leaves long gone
Moss covered feet grip the ground
Mandrake husks strewn about
The hole that delves beneath.

Caustic fumes linger there
A stench of putrid rot
For deep within the bowels of earth
A brew stirred long by hands
Gnarled to claws the like.

Whispered curses fill the void between
This and worlds malevolent.
Wisps of gray matted hair hide eyes long
Devoid of sight, nose a crook
With dribbled dew dried crust.

Sudden sanguine light appears
From beyond the vale of vapor.
Birthed there wings black
Horns and ember eyes speak dire
The daemon king awakes.

"See the man with the lonely eyes, oh, take his hand, you'll be surprised." Supertramp.
