Mother dear we are here, We feel you left too soon,
Our hearts are full of memories, Of you, your love, and tunes,
You think that you have failed somehow, You know this isn't so,
You see we're all together now, And this is how we'll show.

We wish we could say so much more, But you have gone your way.
To talk to you from this day forth, We now will have to pray,
We know you are in heaven, For God has promised this,
But just the same it hurts so much, We missed that one last kiss.

And now you see we'll have to go, Our eyes are getting wet,
It's hard to holdback all our tears, When love becomes a debt,
We didn't always show our love, That seems so hard but true,
But listen now in retrospect, Our prayers will now come through.

As you can imagine this was written when my mother passed away. My Daughter read it for me at her funeral. I still can't read it aloud.

Touching and reverant Dan
Beautifully said Dan...We mothers know what is in your heart even when it is not expressed (tho we really love it when you do!)

My family is far from openly and physically showing their emotions...we thrive on one liners...mostly zingers...but always, with respect and love just beneath the surface. But when the chips are down, emotions are laid bare for all to see. I suspect that is true of most families of my generation.

Trust me...your prayers are being heard and appreciated.

Aunt Bea...
Thank You, your poem and Lucie's prompted me to post mine of mom...

Cuz Dan
Its form made your poem even more breathtaking. It's been a long while since I last saw my own ma. I am fortunate that she's still alive. She lives with my pa in the mountains.

I see you here in your most sentimental, but cheer up, cuz (if your Aunt Bea is my mom here in Lit, then we're cousins LOL).
