In the grocery store, checks, debits and the bottom line groove to the beat of "America at War." Packaged people socialize. Gold watches, Gucci and a pinch of glibness, rib-eye, back-side, abs and tits. Select choice cuts. Grill flesh over open flame of near poverty; be careful to flip parties regularly. Leave the MTV on high. Prepare collegial sauce of African-American Studies, feminist platitudes and suave sophistication. Serve with a side of intellectual vegetables; Kant, Achebe or even Bloom will do. Add a glass of iced Scotch to alleviate Marxist bitterness. Here we have it: the perfect remedy for Hamsen's "Hunger."

Articulate and poignant
An interesting and lasting impression such a piece creates. Not only is it well written - that much is obvious, but the points are emphasised so exquisitely and I can only applaud! One wonders what you'd have to say at the state of Australia's politics :P
