You didn't want to die like this?
Well, as sad as I am to see you go
There is one last thing for you to see
And then you can say what you want

Watch closely before your vision fades
Look at what is up ahead
A beam of light, splitting the dark
Closer to it you come

Forget what others said
What anyone told you
No pathway to heaven
Or gateway to God is this

Any hopes of anything new
Leave at your body
'Cause I'm afraid that this
Is probably gonna let you down

Forget all your hopes of anything
What you thought you'd see
There's something here
But not what you want

Here you are, as close as you can
You stare at the light, never straying your sight
For you always feared the dark
Now watch and listen, here it comes

People you knew, places you'd been
Here it all is, as one
But not as it was, but as what you passed up
Showing how your life could've been

Repeatedly showing the bad choices you made
The things you ignored, the people you hurt
All coming together to show you
How your life could have been

Eternal is the light you watch
Forever parting the dark
Always there to remind you
How your life could have been

So I ask of you, before your vision completely fades
Before your life is gone and you're dead in my arms
Just tell me one thing
Is this the way you wanted to live?

Stay metal!

I think you'll be a good fiction writer, Xit! This one made me want for more, not because it's lacking but that it's too engaging like I were reading a book. I can almost put myself in, especially in stanza six where I couldn't bat an eyelash, like I too were afraid of the dark.

Thanks for this one.
