Palermo...Is the wife of the [50] pastors who were sent by the Bishops Organization to pastor in Nottingham, England. They have been over there a month and little - head way has been made. The men have not had adequate instruction in erecting their churches...
Ready to move in an order has come through that they must be torn down. Realizing what this would do to the morale of the little community; Palermo tries to explain it tio one of the ministers of the house of God. The Churches are old and run down, and need to be rebuilt. but with the help of the members of the Community.

Palermo I've been with 'em through bitterness and disappointment and waiting. I know what it's taken to get them singing again, just singing! I've been here and I know, and I know that any more of this halting, and indescision, and red - tape, and backing down will be more that they can stand!
...It's not the amount to tear down. It's just - it'd be one more drop in an almost overflowing bucket! I know - I know -(She sits looking around.) I know, they act like children...get petty and stubborn, even for christians. But if England's any good, they'll make a go of it...
You just don't understand. You were up here and don't know what they've just come from Jarvis. You never saw them on relief, did you? You don't know what it can do to a man - seeing his years of work gone for nothing. Most of these Churches were built a long time a go by the men of the communities, yes, some of these women helped out! Seeing their church taken away from them, and have to have church in a school or field - over night almost - his family wanting Sunday School to go on every Sunday, now its just service. But they will survive with the grace of God. It kept some of the men from drinking and carousing. Getting lazy and going fishing on Sundays...Some went on the county...Lost their nerve, patience, and pride, and got on a train to another town or city to find a Church. Couldn't wait until a new one was built...They could have had Church right there in their home. They even lost their decency...when some of them got on the train at Lincoln. You'd have thought a plaque had struck them! While some left for the train, others kept up their cabins, and little land that they had. The majority pitched in to help out with building new churches in the Communitites...You didn't realize Jarvis, what it meant! Even yet we're so close to something like desolaltion...Well, you can't ask them to tear their cabins down too, where would they live? In thier own time, and ours, we will help them rebuild their Homes; for now, let's give God thanks for the new churches that is being built...
