You know, often times, when I can't find the words in myself to express what's going on in my life, I find myself turning to music, as...well, I'm not a terribly social person, so very few people really know what's going on in my brain...let alone my heart. Tonight, I was shooting pool with a friend and co-worker of mine, and what should come on the radio but the song I had lost and have been looking for for at least a year. It came in the form of Roger Daltrey and the Who, with their song 'Behind Blue Eyes.' I know, I know, there's been a fairly recent cover of it, but nothing can compare to the bluesy stylings of Pete Townshend, Roger Daltrey, John Entwistle, and Keith Moon.

'No one knows what it's like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind blue eyes

No one knows what it's like
To be hated
To be fated
To telling only lies

But my dreams
They aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be

I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
That's never free

No one knows what it's like
To feel these feelings
Like I do
And I blame you

No one bites back as hard
On their anger
None of my pain and woe
Can show through

But my dreams
They aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be

I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
That's never free

When my fist clenches, crack it open
Before I use it and lose my cool
When I smile, tell me some bad news
Before I laugh and act like a fool

If I swallow anything evil
Put your finger down my throat
If I shiver, please give me a blanket
Keep me warm, let me wear your coat

No one knows what it's like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind blue eyes'

I am the man behind blue eyes, even though mine have been described as 'puppy dog brown.'

Has anyone else experienced anything quite like this before? What's the story? What are the lyrics? I'd like to hear from you.

'He who knows others is learned. He who knows himself is wise.'
-Lao Tzu

'Tomorrow will take us away,
Far from home--
No one will ever know our names,
But the bards' songs will remain.
Tomorrow, all will be known,
And You're not alone,
So don't be afraid
In the dark and cold
'Cause the bards' songs will remain.
They all will remain
In my thoughts and in my dreams
They're always in my mind....
Come close Your eyes;
You can see them, too.'

The Bard's Song: Into the Forest
