down the streets of my fate
the lines on my skin carve a picture of a face
unfold an untold story of a defiant boy
with a dream.

Ancient wounds grow fearsome
Haunt grave yards of my memory
but the stars the moon the light of the sun
bid me

One last prayer for salvation
The angles might be kind.

But the cards have been dealt
For the fate of an unsung hero
With a will to die for a single breath of life.

My jaded heart healed
mysteries of my mind revealed
As the blood stained grounds
Of my destiny
Are Erased by the winds of my love

Hopeful dreams awaken
As Light brakes through my anguished soul
I face my final demons
and fight back my darkened doom

one last prayer of innocence
the angles might be kind

But the cards have been dealt
For the fate of an unsung hero
With a will to die for a single breath of life

Truth
Abi,
This poem is great. Speaks straight from the heart, and deals with our daily lives. And to think I wasn't going to open the site today and check for new poems. I don't know where to start, or what I should comment on, it is great! I especially like "One last prayer for salvation
The angles might be kind." How many of us haven't been there? You are a true poet, I ask you not be absent for so long again. Thank you for sharing this.
One last thing, you usually write when the poem was written or under what circumstances, but not this one. Any special reason?

another comment
I just had to comment again....I love this part,
"But the cards have been dealt
For the fate of an unsung hero
With a will to die for a single breath of life. "

How hard we fight for our life, when all our cards have already been dealt.
