Beneath the veil of life lies an undulating sea of contention. Between mothers and daughters, sisters and brothers, fathers and sons, friends and lovers, whatever the connection, the ever expanding web of interplay between individuals is in continuous flux. With both positive and negative influences pushing and pulling, vying for prominence, it is no wonder this volatile tempest we call society over flows with violence and pain especially in the young who are at best ill equipped to fend off the continuous barrage of emotions both within themselves and that which they feel from others. It is imperative that young people of today find a way to insulate or armor themselves against these potentially dangerous and emotionally debilitating forces. One avenue is of course through the written word whether by poetry or prose or lyrics. Whatever medium is chosen is immaterial so long as they are provided a means to express those ever churning thoughts and emotions. Sadly this only prepares them for adulthood where the emotional interplay is continuous, the repercussions more costly and the players more subtle.
