When water falls across rocks and I think
Of the time when you and I were once paired
We thought that love would outlast all who dared
To feel that way and you and I did sink
Into the cold, watery senseless drink
Of streams that glide past, far too fast, I'm snared
And I remembered when I once was scared
And my soul terror drove me to the brink.
And my fledgling love trembled on the rocks
Like a drizzled pigeon, I sought the way
To scramble from terror and seek the day
For in the end, only the reaper knocks
And though I no longer drink from your spring
I still feel the soft touches of your wings.
