Momma why
Did daddy lie,
When he went away
To that far off place.

He promised me
There’d come a day
When he’d come back
From that dangerous place.

I didn’t know
Why he had to go
And you just cried
And closed the door.

By the window
I’d sit all day
Waiting for
My daddy’s face.

Your on your knees
In front of me
Trying to explain
About heavens ways.

No I don’t care
About what you say
I just want my
Daddy here today.

What do you mean
He’s gone for good?
Momma he promised
And I’ve been so good.

Oh momma why
Are you crying?
Did I say
Something wrong?

Is it my fault
That daddy’s gone?
My daddy’s gone,
My daddy’s gone.

Thankyou windchime
Thank you once again for the compliments windchime. I do appreciate the time you take to read my work. On this subject I have so much I can say, that I dare not. Suffice to say I served my country and would have died for it if asked but war can not and will never change the cost.

Momma why

This is the best piece of poetry I have seen dealing with this situation. To anybody who has had to explain death of a 'close one' to children it tears at the soul.

I've been there, and this poetry, brings back memories I would like to eradicate, but must not, it is the only pece of poetry except one of my own that has ever made me cry.

And it was childrens grandparents, not their father...

Thank you,

Momma why
OK, that was just a perfect little poem about a HUGE subject. I am so sad for the little boy (you?) feeling guilt. That was incredible...
