The sun sets and you belong to me.
Two facts I have come to appreciate.
Placed flowers in that old vase,
probably a gift from one of our special dates.
Petals scattered, form a pathway to my heart.
Strategically placed candles light our home.
Shhh - listen, the rain forms puddles outside our windows.
I hear thunder roaring in the distance.
Smell of incense engraves a feeling in my mind.
Music in the air, sweet sounds of Enya.
Close my eyes.
I feel you.
Table decorated with our favorite china.
A wedding gift, I am sure.
Amaretto with orange juice over ice, mmm.
Soft lips.
Tender smiles.
We talk about silly things.
How the kids look more like men these days.
About the gray in your hair making you look all grown up.
Has it really been almost 20 years?
We are making memories.
My favorite, when the sun rises you still belong to me.

I am on a journey. Looking for Me. Everyday I get a little closer. The more time goes by the more I realize I'm always changing. This journey could take forever... Renae L. Soler

"Belong to Me"
Sounds like Charlene (char) and I. Looks as if your journey is moving right along...gave you 10.

Almost grown up!
Nae,

Nice write and it's nice to see comments from people who share your experience. After 35 years the only difference I found was that Joan says that:

'About the grey in your hair making you look 'almost' all grown up.

(note the English 'grey' also!)

I just love to give Joan flowers and cards for no reason at all! (except for putting up with me.)

Again a poem that lets you share experiences,

Thank you,

Ivor

belong to me
What a true love poem, beautifully executed. Your love says you are a lucky woman. Thank you for the warm fuzzies I got from your poem (my favorite, "when the sun rises you still belong to me") Makes me love my guy... ty

Belong To Me
This is beautifully written and reads as a true love poem. Lucky be those that share the truth of this kind of love and the romance of special dates, flowers, candles and incense...how nice. Lovely piece Nae. Thanks for sharing this.

Better
This gets better the more times I read it. I liked it in that other place and I really love it here ... I keep seeing things in it that remind me of my Sunshine (and yes my wife's name is Sunshine :O)). Thank you

Belong
oh to belong and feel this comfortable, and I believe only time can bring us to this level.

I especially loved this line
"Petals scattered, form a pathway to my heart."
stunning Renae
