Into the Night

Outside my young wife plays with cats in the gloaming,
Chasing their feline reserve into laughter.
Begging at the window, for she would chase me, too.
"Come and see the stars grow!"
"I must write." I say
She smiles, "A weak argument!"
"Is any argument strong against your desire?"
I speak quickly, then regret. The marriage is new,
Hurt or anger are uncertain and unwelcome.
I wait, holding an apology like a spell. Suddenly,
She laughs, "Writing makes you grumpy."
"You should come out and watch the stars grow!"
"Five minutes." I say.
I write quickly and step out into the night.

Good Move...
Listen to her...
She knows...
The things you share will be something to write about... later...

Very good, I liked her urgency... and your submission...

Good write...
