Somone once told me
Life is too complex for the game of love.
Life should not be spent on searching for
that person so perfect to complement us.

Yet I, being I, still searched in vain.
I looked far and near
Hoping....wishing....

I thought I had found the one.
I thought he was meant for my dreary lonesome.
Mistaken greatly, I was.

You, who have always been there by my side.
Always there to listen to my undending angsts, and
My never-ending litany of bittersweet goodbyes.

I never knew you were the one.
Never once did I think that the brilliance of my eyes was kindled
Not by the smile I found in the one I thought was meant for me,
But due to your constant presence in my life.

It was your smile all along...
You make me laugh...
You shower me with hope...
You turn my world around...
Now I know, and I'm glad.
It was your smile all along.

It's your smile...
What a lovely poem. So so true, we spend so much time searching and every once in a while we realize it has been right in front of us all along. Beautiful!!!
