In Memoriam
For Aile 17/01/83-4/06/04

Like a falling star out of a diamond-lit sky
You brightened all that stood in your way.
To capture your luminescence, I often did try;
And now, to you, I see it is too late to say.

For in my life, I have lived and lost
And mourned the passing of others too.
But I never realized how dear was the cost,
Of not having said farewell to you.

For you were very Light manifest,
And possessed an energy many lack.
To share your experiences I consider myself blessed.
But now, singing angels have called you back.

And my belief in God trembles again
In watching your light being extinguished so fast.
And the sky weeps, both in rapture and pain,
At welcoming you; to protect you at last.

I hope you are now in a better place,
Where grief and heartbreak are never known.
And where you can rest, having won Life’s race,
Knowing we are there; you are not alone.

So I secretly wish upon a star tonight,
To reach out to the living my suffering hand;
And though you’re there, in your blanket of Night,
I’m not sure if God’s will I understand….

Excellent.
Powerful lament, natural-sounding cadence and use of rhyme. Great diction.
