Love isn’t...
The sparkle that appears in the eye
When “they” are thought of.

Love isn’t
The jubilant feeling
That comes when “they” come into sight.

Love isn’t
The wishing or the anticipation
Of two parted people
In the course of a day
Or a week, or a month.

Love isn’t
The Pangs of Fire
That Rack the body
When flesh meets flesh.

But rather...
Love is all these things.

Love is the priceless niche
In the personality
Which holds concern
And understanding.

Love is the bountiful... giving
Of one’s self.

Love is
Feeling responsible.

Love is small chores
Done willingly and gladly
For someone else’s comfort.

Love is the song of rapture
That one hears
In every sound of the day.

To me...
Love is
The difference

Between living...
And just being alive.

CoCo - Have Faith in It
CoCo, it's available, but oft we stumble in our anxiety to find it: even trip over it, if you will. I'd been praying for just such a lover since I was five! He didn't come until I was 25! And he wasn't the first! But he'll be the last. Guess God saved the best for last!

I think you just have to know what you want and be patient to wait for it. If you are, however, already "spoken for," there's no hard and fast rule that says your present lover can't become the one and only that you've waited all your life for! Like a garden, We can change with the right ingredients and motivation!

Love it!
Quietly and simply put. I like the way you brought attention to "Pangs of Fire That Rack". Perhaps you should do the same at the end with the words "Difference Between Living."

Starscapeviews Thanks
Thanks for the great idea.

I have no idea why I didn't think of that! Must just have been concentrating on those Pangs of Fire!

Thanks again.

CoCo - How to get the pix back
CoCo, if you have a mouse with a right and left click partition, right click on the pix and choose "save as" and then name it what you want. It will automatically copy it and place it in your pix file by the name you chose.

Loved it!
I don't know how much this might mean to you, benig how I'm merely a teen and all... but I thought that was a magnificent poem!> I really like the way you ended it. I have tried to capture love in my poetry for so long... but I just couldn't find the right words to describe it, but it looks like you did it for me. Nice job :) Keep on writing!

Don't let youth let you down: increase your vocabulary by reading the dictionary. That's what I did. As a teen, I was probably the girl voted least likely to succeed! But I not only succeeded, I did it with the very tools they said I wasn't good at. And I have made (and lost) several fortunes doing it!

I set up a lemonade stand for every lemon life droped on me, because I followed THE WORDS of a woman much wiser than I was at the time. She wrote a book titled "If Life Hands You a Lemon, Make Lemonade!" And I did. So I am giving back the way I received, WITH WORDS.

You will never regret first learning the words to communicate with, second learning how and when to use them, and last-but-not-least learning when NOT to use them. That takes a lifetime of perfecting by diligent practice every chance you get.

Oh, yes... on the subject of Love. The longer I live, the more I know I will never know the outer bounds of love... it is just too big!

The Difference
This is very good as usual, madam. This is for the times when one forgets and ask what love is (I don't exclude myself). Things of the world could get us confused easily sometimes.

peterpaulino: on "The Difference"
There is a bible verse that helps me remember daily my obligation to be loving. It says, "Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks." Christians are commanded to "Order our conversation aright." So, every day, I say to those I love, "I love you." I do it whether I feel it, or even believe it, or not! I am training my heart in good things, and from that training will come good things for others as well. Love isn't so much "a gift" as it is "a mind set." The heat comes after two people with the same mindset join forces! "God is love" and I want Him to teach me to be like Him.
