I write this poem as a "note to self";
a reminder--I guess--that I am not an elf.

My days are short and filled with worry;
binding me to do things in a hurry.

In work and school, children and wife;
I sometimes forget there is more to life.

The sun, the trees, the moon, and the sky;
they are always there, they always say "hi".

So, I write this now--this "note to self";
to remind me(again), I am not an elf.

Though time is fleeting, I shall not worry;
I will not be bound by a lifesyle of hurry.

My work and school, my children and wife;
I hope through me, they will see this life.

Our sun, our trees, our moon, and our sky;
are looking for us to return their "hi".

Note to all
Very well expressed in good poetic style.....if only we could all remeber what,s important in life!

I think this poem points out very clearly how our standards and prioritories can be passed unintentially to our children and families.

I think at times we all have to take a look at where we are at with the world!

An excellent write,

Ivor

humble thanks
thank you Ivor. This is the first poem I've written in 13 years. It seems that I have lost touch with so much by being swept away by society's standards of life that I( and many others as you said) have lost touch with what "life" really is. I would say it's all around us, but sadly, it is slowly being snuffed out before our eyes for the sake of "progress". But, none-the-less, I feel good knowing intelligent people such as yourself, do realize this and it's not a fear I bear alone. Again, thank you.

thanks
I really appreciate the comment Ice. I didn't really expect anyone to read anything that I have written, but, good or bad, I thank you for taking the time to read it.
