I built walls of self-containment.
Imprisoned myself within a cage.
Years of fury and hostility,
until your love ended my rage.

I was left cold and alone.
Unwanted, and consumed by self-hate.
Years of neglect and abuse,
until your heart unlocked my gate.

I still fight the demons inside,
but my re-born spirit has strength anew.
Years of bruises and scars,
are finally healing, because of you.

Dedicated to my loving husband

Wonderful Men
Wonderful men who are willing to break down the walls and walk into our hearts. I have someone like that in my life, and all I can say is, your poetry hits me right in the heart. You said you wanted to write a novel...if you ever do...please let me know!!! This was very moving...brought back a load of memories.
