Nobody can love me
Hate is all I can see
Life is not all it’s cracked up to be
Believe me
I have been through a lot in my life
But I still hold on strong
The way things are going
I may not for long
I have always been an outsider
Have never had to belong
Have never had to give what other people think
‘Cause they’re all wrong
About me
They see life as a popularity contest
All they see is who likes whom best
I’d like to put them in my place
Liked to put them to the test
Then maybe they’d see that they’ve been blessed
All they want is attention
They think it’s great to have depression
They never had to work a day in their life
Never had to experience strife
No reason to be depressed, they are all fake
They think suicide is the right road to take
But I know better
I know suicide is the wussy’s way out
They make a scene, they scream and shout
But should I say something to someone so stupid?
Nah, the gene pool’s better off without them

The following comments are for "the outsider"

All the things you speak about in these lyrics - you better get used to it. Unfortunately, life is very often a popularity contest. And being an outsider can be a noble path. However, one of the greatest mistakes one can make is to pre-judge people. They are often not as they appear. People are too complex to make blanket judgements. There's a lot to learn on the road of life - always take pride in your outsiderness.

I'd like to hear the music these lyrics might be put to. I'd especially like to see how people would dance to it. Personally, I have my own late-at-night outsider dance.

Keep on truckin' and thanks for the poem.

Heading for a Fall
I have never quite understood (my problem) free writing and as such ususally never get past the first couple of lines as it never holds my attention. However this one did.
The remarks I am making are in regard to the sentements in the poetry and not to you the author who has succeeded in making it a discussion piece.

As somebody who has been blessed by looking after a handicapped child, facing the loss of a child, suffering severe depression, accepting redudancy,

Enjoying my grandchildren, adopting more children, loving my family and enjoying life...

I feel that the person behind this poem is 'heading for a fall' battling with emotions and blaming the world for everything that happens. 'Fake Depression' 'cause they're all wrong' - 'But I hold strong, the way things are going it may not be long' true!
I hope there is somebody there for them when it happens with a different view than theirs.

An excellent, thought provoking piece of work

i can relate
i can relate to this. it makes me think about highschool. and how i am treated and how people who think they are better act. IT IS a big popularity contest. thats why i choose to be an outsider-not all antisocial, but not a prep as i say. i stay out of all the that crap. i have my close friends and thats all i need. i've written a lot of stuff like this. i really like it. it does make people think. great job. you should make it a rock melody! katie
