The Dragon Beast

The dragon flew to the city grounds,
To lay siege on the busy town.
Woman and children ran all around,
But the dragon blew them down.
The knights of the town hid scared and afraid,
Afraid of their very own death.
But somehow the dragon must be slain,
Before he lays the town to rest.
Out of the hiding knights one came to the beast,
A shining sword in his hand.
His features were of the very least,
Yet he remained to look so grand.
A smirk on his face as he first struck out,
The dragon beast roared with rage.
The dragonís defense it seemed to be without,
And trapped inside some cage.
The beast was down and the knight had won,
Or at least thatís what he thought.
But the battle of the beast had just begun.
And so on and on the fought,
Day and night then day again.
The fought with sword and claw.
Each very wanting the fight to end,
Yet neither performed a single flaw.
Finally the knight struck home,
His faced soaked in blood.
Never again will the dragon beast roam,
But be cast into the mud.
