In the Rain

He sat alone in his room

On his cold and unused bed
And he glanced out the window

And he listened to the pouring rain
And he smiled and he laughed

Put on his jacket and went for a walk
And while he should have frowned

He smiled, Ďcause the rainís all he known by now

And the rain came down in his eyes
But itís not to be confused with his cries
And no one sees the tears
Heís learned to hide them through the years
Heís learned to hide them all
In the rain

As he walked down the street

Spinning and laughing, taking in the water
He sees a car that looks all too familiar

And his heart begins to sink
But then he realizes heís mistaken

As he reads the unknown license plate
But thereís still less spring in his step

Heís lost all he had left

And the rain came down in his eyes
But itís not to be confused with his cries
And no one sees the tears
Heís learned to hide them through the years
Heís learned to hide them all
In the rain

Back to his street, his house in the distance
He sees the two cars out in the front
He puts his headphones back in his pocket
He hears the screams and the yells
And no place in the house is truly safe
No place quiet, no place sane
So he puts his headphones back on
And no one even notices heís gone

He walks down the street
On his own once again
When suddenly
His walk becomes a run
He tries to outrun
What he canít leav behind
But then the rain gave way

And the rain came down in his eyes
But itís not to be confused with his cries
And no one sees the tears
Heís learned to hide them through the years
Heís learned to hide them all
In the rain

And the rain came down in his eyes
But itís not to be confused with his cries
And no one sees the tears
Heís learned to hide them through the years
Heís learned to hide them through the years
Heís learned to hide them all

well honoured
A touching, and beautiful tribute.

Very moving, showing the sad and dark places within ourselves, reminding us that we all seek out the rain, and various other masks, in which to hide ourselves, hide our pain. You've presented, and described this concept beautifully, with a tenderness akin to that of a mother with a new born.

Profound thanks, for sharing.
