I wrote this in the early 80's shortly after I had left home at 16. I had moved in with three other people in an effort to make ends meet since I was the only one working. This poem, at that time, succinctly describes the current events. Enjoy.

Small house
Cramped space
Gossipy town
Shitty place

Dirty dishes
all the time
Going crazy
losing my mind

Oven's broke
T.V's shot
Fridge won't freeze
a hell of a lot

No telephone
important calls
Walk two blocks
and freeze your balls

Dirty clothes
Laundromats
Taking care of
fucking cats

Money's tight
Food's a squeeze
Universal saying
'More beans please'.

No privacy
important dates
Two hours in the can
to put on my face

Larry's over
with his friend Stan
Pool for them
More quarters man

Waterbed's
a brick of ice
When Keith's around
'It's been a slice'

Patty's over
for the latest in things
She's just pinnocchio
with no strings

I'm going crazy
Wanna come
Come live with us
We're lots of fun

The days are hard
the nights are better
but we get along
just living together

Its been a slice
The 'its been a slice' comment was what the guy Keith used to say all the time meaning a slice of life, a moment in history. Yes I'm rather proud of this poem, for such a crappy sequence of events I was awfully upbeat about it. But then again even though it was an awful time it was way better than being at home. Thanks for your support.
