To you I gave my heart one day
On the strings of the golden harp it lay
Blood red stains on the strings once gold
Where a story of love was long ago told
A heart that aches with every beat,a rend in my soul
A place where you and I were to grow old
They say all great things last not forever
But these memories I will slight never
It is for you at night I face the sky
As I say my prayers,my soul,it cries
Not with tears but a deep burning pain
For the loss of a love I'll see not again
The golden harp all worn and shattered
I thought it was only you that mattered
Well I was wrong,so very wrong
Now my heart is a forgotten song
The golden harp has laid to rest
My true love was put to test
Beneath the harp on the ivory floor
Are blood red stains of a love no more
The golden harp's song meant for all to hear
For all those who love to share
But now the song plays no more
Locked behind a stained red door
The stained red door belongs to my heart
Was it closed from the very start?
I was too young to understand
Now the harp lies in a far away land
