i've never had so many great people commenting on my poetry before, good or bad, and i'd like to say thanks to everyone on this site for the feedback. you're a humongous reason i'm still writing and i'll always be so grateful to you all.

i feel my heart racing
when we're standing on the porch
at night with fog and rain
falling on the sand and tar roof
it's been raining for five minutes
and it's already leaking
our long gangly legs in front of us
i notice we stand the same way
you're inhaling your cigarette
and you look tired
your green eyes and dark hair
reminds me that you're my father
my sharp nose and thin frame
reminds me that i'm your daughter
you're telling me that you work too much
i think you're too old and weary
the world has taken too much from you
and i've done all i can
to give you something back.
two wrongs don't make a right, but four lefts can make a square.
