Author's Note:
I wrote this for a prompt on a song writing group that asked for a song concerning illusions, and this was what I came up with. It's shorter than my usual songs, and feels a bit like a poem to me.

REFLECTION

[Verse 1]
The mirror reflecting a single tear
Blood staining the silver frame
Temptations flood in disbelief
Yet wanting comfort, sweet relief

[Chorus]
Illusions,
Submission to the soul beneath
Destructions,
Creating the deepest pain,
Reflections,
Shadows that seems to breathe,
Trepidations,
Of life that could never be

[Verse 2]
Glaciers rising from her heart
Sudden realizations from afar
Guilty pleasures that won’t depart
Emotions now seems wide apart

[Chorus]

[Verse 3]
Acceptance suddenly way too hard
The truth is painful, as is the art
Somehow it can’t all make up
For what they once shared—mortal love

This is ready
to be put to music. The first chorus is my favorite part. I'd like an "REM" type group to do it. Very, very good.
