The Ballot of the Land

Todayís the day that I cross the ferry.
All of my things are packed for me to carry.
Over the hills and the plains and the prairie.
Todayís the day I adventure the land-

Animals and people and towns to wander.
Curios to find what exists out yonder.
Love for my land grows more and more fonder.
Today Iím a one-minstrel band-

Iíve never actually felt happier before.
There is no difference from the rich to the poor.
I wish to roam the land forever more.
City homes are too high in demand-

At the fair grounds it seems that am a boy again.
With my ballots I have many a friend.
Always with food and a place to sleep in.
I feel as if Iím in command-

I play the flute and the bagpipes and the harp.
I write ballots only straight from the heart.
Travel by horse, foot or a cart.
Todayís that day I adventure the land!

thanks
Thank you for your comment. I'm sorry i havn't been able to respond sooner-I've been away for a while. Actually, I don't know if this is good or bad, but my first language is English. I was born and raised in the state of Colorado. I've been takin' a crack at poetry recently with all of the old-english ballad type stuff, so hopefully i will submit more things such as this one.
Thanks again for your comment.
