Dead Letter
March 13th, 2002 - February 18th, 2004

In an old abandoned church
at the end of an unnamed road
is a folded sheet of paper
inside a sealed wrinkled envelope

No address, no postage, only a name
with no other identification
Stuffed in the back of a desk drawer
of a darkened corner office

Many objects scattered along the desk
Held together with layers of cobwebs
One is a book that remains still opened
with a page torn from the spine

A collar purposely made too tight
and a chair swept off its feet
Struggling while left in mid air
until becoming relaxed

His final vision was a statue
of a man with a rusted cross
A solemn look upon his face,
like one just about to cry

In a book where sins are forgiven
one man writes his confessions
In a world where sins are forgotten
one man begins in another

...i close my eyes in order to see...
