She has coal black hair and shiny ebony eyes
Her worlds full of hardship and dark skies
You'll see a smile upon her tiny face
Though she's only just a little girl
With dreams of a much better life
Then living in a bamboo shack
Sun up she stumbles from her bed
Where she laid upon the floor
Fetches water for her family
Down by the muddy creek
There's no indoor pluming or electricity
And there's no time for her to play
Got washing to help with and the rice paddies
Need tending to every single day
Fire wood to gather before each meal
Though hunger doesn't always go away...
She's thnkful for the ones she had anyway
Twilight she staggers back to her bed and prays
With a hope as bright as a star.. upon her pretty face
Please make tomorrow a far...
far better place

My ex, who is Thai, is named Davina. When I read this, I wondered if the two names are closely related, or different versions of the same thing.
