Are You a Poet or Short Story Writer - or Do You Want to Be?
If you've ever wanted to try your hand at writing a short story or a poem, enter Our Mail Network's writing contest. The contests are designed to be fun and geared toward the nonprofessional writer. Entries will be accepted through Jan. 15.

(PRWEB) December 17 2003--As part of its Grand Opening, Our Mail Network announces two writing contests - a short story contest and a poetry contest. Both contests are open to anyone EXCEPT for Our Mail Network writers, editors, experts, staff, and their immediate families. Entries must be submitted by Jan. 15, and winners will be announced on Jan. 30.

All poetry entries should be in English-language haiku format (three lines, 11 to 14 syllables total, free-form) and should describe the essence of an Up Close & Factual™ Report. An example of this format might be

Short but sweet
Contains answers
I need to know

Format for entries in the short story contest:
* The story must use as many Up Close & Factual titles (or parts thereof) as possible.
* The story must have a beginning, a middle, and an end.
* The use of dialogue is encouraged.
* Maximum length is 200 words (for any story submitted over the 200 word limit, the judges will read only the first 200 words).
