With the innocence of youth short lived
she prayed for a grand eclipse.
No time for the blossoming of love.
While the moon hangs heavy in the sky
ill judgment weighs heavy on her mind,
as she stands tenuously on shifting sand.
There are reasons for every grain of sand
and purposes for everyone that's lived.
She wrung the puzzle in her mind;
as blazing sun is blotted by black eclipse
as darkness cloaks the sky,
lost are souls who will know no love.
Now she speaks of different shades of love.
Walks many paths not clearly marked in sand.
Sees disjointed clouds in a stormy sky.
Seeks choices and how they're lived.
Ponders the shadow cast by a total eclipse.
Knows the woeful fret of a tangled mind.
She prays for peace in her troubled mind.
Pleads the existence of undeniable love
so strong it can prevent the dreaded eclipse,
can forestall bleached bones in desert sand.
Allowing another to proclaim I lived
and write their story across the sky.
But not every seed can find the sky,
she proffers her dubious mind
and who should care if it ever lived
if it wasn't the product of joyous love
why leave foot prints in the sand?
Why not embrace a grand eclipse?
Ever closer came the black eclipse
and as darkness filled the sky,
tangled thoughts rode shifting sand!
Without clarity in her troubled mind
will she attempt a mother's love,
or end what could have lived?
Her child lived there was no grand eclipse
and a mother's love, true as a summer sky,
shaped a mind that left foot prints in the sand.
