running for the door
with your laces tied together
left a great impression

hands down
best fall yet
a solo test flight
complete
with taxpayer cleanup

I offered a hand
one I had found
cradling the knife
keeping my spine
company

those tears
mean little
in the face
of folly
and failure
self inflicted
deserved
but add a nice touch
of sparkle
and light
to your shadow-cracked
smile

laughed when I knew I probably shouldn't... it's the way you tell it, dead-pan, matter of fact, and always hinting at hidden depths.
