Journal Day 1
That last copse was much thicker than I'd anticipated. I've just about found my way through, though...should plunge back into the clear at daybreak. This is my 407th day on this planet. From first sight, it appeared bigger than most but we'll see how long it takes for boredom to set in and the yearning to fire up the rockets and seek out something new begins to gnaw at my entrails.
Her ghost lurks nearby again this night. She has left me in peace for some time, but something about the fauna I came across several days back is reminiscent of her, and the birds here sing her graceful melody, beckoning the wraith that torments me during the hours of dusk. I wonder about the goings-on of her corporeal essence, and have even thought to send word from time to time. I come to the conclusion that it's selfish, though, to attempt to diminish the specter that haunts me by casting my own in stronger resolution upon her. Were I able, I would bear the full brunt of this ghost's persecution to ensure that mine trouble her no more. But that is not in my power.
Rest now, though...forward is the only way.

Eli settled in for the night as a wisp of smoke loitered nearby, growing fainter as he descended into slumber. He was 407 days into his trek on this planet that appeared large enough to require a lifetime to explore. He'd only been on one this large once before, but after covering two of its continents (who knew how many there were?) in 1,460 days traveled on to other adventures. After 2,084 days on the last rock, he'd worn out his welcome and needed to move on, jumping without grace into the unknown yet again. The current plant did not suit his flair for intrigue, but sustenance abounded and so he stayed and was indeed sustained -- a welcome change.
