The cap and trade bill was too little too late, but that isn't stopping Goldman Sachs from perpetuating a new bubble fraud.....to the tune of a trillion dollars.

Internet bubble scam to housing scam to oil price scam to bail-out scam to global warming market scam...

These vulture assholes have all the angles covered....and it doesn't matter who is president.

Cap and Trade
Once the bloom is off the rose, I think we will all see how far we are removed from those who should act in our behalf. Over 1200 pages of the worst American bonndoggle in history is about to be launched on the american public- and we seem prepared for the fleecing. The things being discused represent about 100 pages - what's on the rest - and who does it benifit aside from Al Gore's and friends -poised to make millions, convincing us that our exhale is poisonious..and taxing it.I have heard that ALGORES creation of the 'carbon footprint' scale has netted him near 30,000,000 dollars. I don't at all mind him making money but I don't like mega-business and I don't want him to be one on the American tax payers money. Oh wait to late . If you are a climate change person - is the world cooling or warming and how does taxing the hell out us going to fix it? Certainly more the more bureaucrates in one place the more gas.
It seems that Capitalism has died, Socialism was proven unworkable (Please, all you gullible students with neo-marxist teachers please read history beyond what your Proffessor tells you.) No matter our politics we should all be concerned - and the real question for me is will we move closer to a facist state, where government controls every area of our life or will we move to a new paridigm that works in a world community but acknowledges local needs and customs. Perhaps , in the end, I am just an ols dinosaur and the comet is about to hit.
thanks for putting me on to boil.

Uh....

I think capitalism and socialism both are relics from the industrial age and humans cannot adapt fast enough to the new cyber/green demands being put on them.

A new paradigm is needed and the gap between how technology is exponential and human understanding of this peril is linear....has doomed us.

The game is over.

If you are a fundi and are waiting for the rapture. That's cool. If you are a global warmer and waiting for the flood that's cool.

Maybe aliens will save the day. kick back and relax....

hmmmm!
I think you are right but I believe we will make the transition, optimist that I am. Due to detrition and irremediable malaise I may yet be forced to relax and let it all unfurl.
I'm for the alien spore theory where we all get infected and develop a functional intelligence.

I hope you have an inner practice to help you in these confusing and challenging days....you know to reduce the mental noise inside and outside.

In the Belly of the Beast
First, I will address your writing. Briefly, it is too brief! After reading these comments, I decided to explore a little bit about the Goldman-Sachs Cap and Trade Connection, and am now vaguely aware of it. It would have been oh so nice if you had included some of the information you are referring to. That's all.

Although I'm not in favor of scams of any kind, I do favor the cap and trade system, or something else that accomplishes the same thing. Here is why. As long as energy providers continue to do business in the cheapest way possible, it is likely to mean the most pollutive way possible. Cap and trade penalizes the pollutive practices, providing an incentive to explore greener technology. The green argument aside, I still favor it because it moves us away from dependence on foreign oil and the disastrous policies that arise from it. In the long run, oil is finite, and we must explore and implement alternatives. We can either experience inconvenience now or severe pain later. If we do not develop alternatives aggressively, a time will come when we truly do experience disastrous energy shortages. Cap and trade, for all its imperfections, provides a safety net for entreprenuers to take risks; in addition, it signals to big energy producers that they would benefit more from a green untaxed product. The motivation is simple. It's an appeal to good old fashioned greed.

Uh....
It's also too late for it to make a difference....
