Fists tightened, rubs her eyes
“What time is it?” she questions
Her bones creak and knees wobble
The mirror tells her a jumbled story
First one to awake
“What happened?” she pretends to wonder
Leaving before excuses need to be made
Keys in the ignition, engine turns
The highway is barren
“Where did the music go?” she wonders aloud
Think about anything and nothing at all
In an attempt to erase permanent marker
Jaw clenched, tires drifting
“Watch yourself!” someone calls out
Metallic blood wets her lips
Memories dance, her mind like a stage
She takes a right into her driveway
“How was the party?” mother inquires
Never mind those dumb questions
A warm shower as an anecdote, for now.
