I've been thinking about blogs lately.
Why?
My goddaughter recently published a book titled They Be We. In conjunction with her book's release, she created a WordPress blog to promote the title. The blog works very well for her, and it's fabulously done.
Me? I'm an advanced computer user, but I'm internet-shy when it comes to creating webpages (so what the hell am I doing with litdotorg?). I use livejournal, and when I have all this fabulous bandwidth right here on litdotorg, it's incredibly assinine to use another web service (for which I pay a yearly fee) when I have THIS to use.
All I need to do is install WordPress on the server, which makes me very nervous!
I'm not very internet or server savvy.
But, if I educate myself . . . a LOT . . . then I should be able to do it.
Chrispian . . . where are you? (grin)
So for the next couple of weeks, I'm educating myself on WordPress. I'm educating myself on how to upload things to this server of ours. And then, with fingers crossed, I might try to upload WordPress and get my own blog going.
And then, I will try to get our Majestic columnists their own WordPress blogs under the litdotorg domain.
And then . . . if I master all that . . . the sky is the limit when it comes to blogging on lit, people. Bandwidth might get expensive for all these bloggers that (hopefully) will come, but we'll figure something out. We always do.
So -- if anyone actually reads this blog (I don't think it shows up on the main page) . . . what are your thoughts regarding WordPress blogging on litdotorg? Is anyone game?
Just an idea right now. No promises. It all depends on community support!
