March was a month of accomplishments for litdotorg!

First, many of you already know this, but let me make my official announcement: I am the sole owner of litdotorg! Dotster changes are complete; however, some search engines still show Lena as the sole owner. In a few days, those of you who do searches on litdotorg will see my name coming up under ownership, so be patient. It’s all legal and done!

Second, one of our own members, Katharlander (Katelan Foisey) is now owner of her own publishing label, Knickerbocker Circus Publishing. Add this to her print-magazine, Constellation, and Katharlander is a very busy business woman! Already they have two titles forthcoming: Blood and Pudding and They Be We. In the winter of 2010, a presently untitled work by me will be published with Knickerbocker Circus Publishing. Of course, I’ll keep everyone informed as that progresses. Make sure you bookmark that page. They have so many wonderful projects planned that it’s dizzying.

Finally, another member has joined us on staff at Majestic: LinnieRed. In this issue of Majestic, her monthly column “The Lyricist as Poet” debuts. I’m excited to watch another member develop her writing skills, focusing her talents into a regular, monthly column with litdotorg. I’m sure this is the start of great things for her, and us at Majestic.

And, as always, we are always looking to expand our monthly offerings in the newsletter. If anyone has an idea for a column of interest to writers about writing; or, if anyone wants to write a monthly column, but needs help developing an idea, contact me privately.

Thank you so much!

I know that the pages seem a bit quiet these days, but I log in several times each day to see the activity in the forum. At any given hour of the day, there seems to be as many as 12 people logged in just reading the poetry, short stories, articles, and essays posted here. Around newsletter time, the number of hits VORPAL shows is astounding.

Even though there aren't a lot of people posting, there are a lot of people reading. If you check the "views" at the top of a piece, it shows how many unique hits a piece has gotten.

Still, I encourage everyone who reads to respond. One of the wonderful things about litdotorg is that anyone can interact with an author, offering comments, criticisms, and praise. As a writer myself, if someone offers a simple "wonderful piece" it makes me smile.

Knickerbocker Circus!
Thanks so much for posting the link to Knickerbocker Circus. We are incredibly excited to bring the public a selection of books ranging from metaphysical to art. We are so happy to have you on board. Currently we are putting together a list of artists for you to choose from for the cover.

As with many on here I don't always get to post. I do however try to read whenever I can.

For anyone who wants to pitch an idea to us or has a manuscript they's like us to look over please email me at katelan@knickerbockercircus.com

My partner Emily is adding to the site every day. Our submission guidelines will be posted on the site soon. Till then follow this:

Knickerbocker Circus accepts unsolicited submissions. Email Katelan, Emily, or Anya with a subject heading of SUBMISSION of Fiction/Nonfiction/Spirituality/Poetry/Art and Photography/Memoir (whichever is appropriate). Include your contact information on your attachments. Attachments should be no bigger than 2 megabytes. Currently we are only taking finished manuscripts however we do offer editing services. If you are in need of an editor please email Anya and she will answer your questions. If you have an idea for a photo book please send us an email with your concept and a few low resolution samples of your photography or art. Because of the volume of submissions we receive, we can't always get back to you right away. Please be patient and do not email us about your submission.

I'm just so proud of you I could PEE myself.

IF Beckett Grey gets around to emailing you, I would take a serious look at his work. His serials are fabulous, as I am sure you've noticed by reading him. I for one am a huge fan of his work here on litdotorg, and would love to see him writing for a much, much bigger pond: The World!

Okay -- that's my one nudge for the day! My own manuscript is complete. I'm working on the final formatting guidelines (my publisher has made the formatting guide more intense than that of a freakin' dissertation!), and then I'm attacking our little project!

In the next newsletter, I'm thinking of highlighting some of the writers from days gone by -- the work of members who, for whatever reason, have slipped away from our pages. To find them, I'm going to play with the "Random Reader" function.

If any of you have any favorites from lit's past, please PM or email me the links. I have a few ideas that might be a lot of fun!

Dear Ochani: As a member of Lit.Org I would like to give you high praise indeed and congrats on becoming sole owner of this site, and as writing a book for publication. Although only a member for a short period I have seen a rapid development on this sight with the addition of great columnists and now a publisher, Kickerbocker Circus. I'm impressed with your forsight, drive, and generousity to the writing community as a whole. I believe the potential for this sight is unlimited and have come to appreciate having someone with your leadership skills at the helm. Very respectfully, Gale.

Thank-you so much! Unfortunately, I don't feel I'm doing a good job YET. I'm learning as I go. And I'm doing a lot of research now into ways to make litdotorg better; however, it will be a few months (2010 is the target date) before those happen.

Unless . . .

I get a really huge burst of energy, more than I usually have!

I forgot to remind everyone, in my little letter, that very few people are using the rating scale!

I know -- it's hard to judge another person's writing; and that is one reason, I think, that a lot of people just read but don't respond.

But the rating system is a good method of feedback. Even if a reader can't find a good comment to write, one can rate the work on a scale of 1 through 10.

Please, everyone, as you read a writer's work, take the time to rate what you've read . . . if nothing else.

And, please, someone rate ME. I'm feeling left out!
