Cheney was hand-picked by Bush senior and he is a McCain silent generation person, but he ran things at the White House and he was a super right wing McCain generation person. That's why things were so out of synch with the rest of the country and the planet. You had a fossil running the country and he would never have gotten elected on his own in 2000 and 2004. The Bush name and the evangelical roots of Bush junior were the cover for this power shift. Clinton and Obama are boomers and are more liberal. They must cater to liberal constituencies and also give the power elite what they want. Cheney had to cater to the power elite ONLY. he did not give a damn about anyone else.
