Well, Bollywood finally went mainstream globally with Slumdog just as Hollywood continued its decline.
As someone who has been to India three times and has seen the mad economic rush in this country first hand. Slumdog is the temporary antidote to the global chaos the breakdown of national boundaries is today creating.
The cheesy ending and the crazy premise of a reality TV show fusing with grinding poverty and a Indian musical tempo was a mutation that heralded a new era.
The Slumdog score was like The Beatles' " I Wanna hold your Hand " and Saturday Night Fever going polygot in a brave new world on the brink of a happy nervous breakdown.
....the feel good was mostly bullshit. The monster awakening underneath was not.
