Sticks and stones break bones
but names stab to the heart
humiliation is the castration of self-esteem
long frightened days
lost evenings and nights
time disappearing in a bottle
a lonely trip to hell
eat, drink and vomit
your happiness hallucination
where it ends is not as terrifying
as no end at all
when tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow
only serve to fuel the hideous beast inside
closing the circle to breed more.

In five hundred years time, most of us will be forgotten dust. But Hitler will still be remembered, God loves irony.

What a powerful piece of work I had to read it a few times to let it really seep in. The line I kept coming back to as I felt it was the soul of the poem and a great metaphor was,'humiliation is the castration of self-esteem'. Very true and a catalyst to acting out against oneself a sad reality in life. A very self defining poem for many people affected by bullies and well executed. Bravo! Gale.

Bully
This is a deep insight into how a victim of bullying would feel, well atleast this is what i imagined as i read it. My favorite line is "where it ends is not as terrifying
as no end at all" it is so true. well done. your poetry is superb
