2547 Plot Synopsis/Timeline
Around the year 2050 cities and society became highly integrated with the internet, and holographic projections were finally possible. The first signs of intelligent AI were showing up as well. Many developments had caused driving to be much safer, crime rates to drop, and standard of living for most people to rise.
Around the year 2100 the brain was successfully interfaced with the internet for the first time, leading to the first large scale use of a virtual cyberspace. This also led to the beginning of more indepth research with the brain, as well as brain to computer interfacing.
Around the year 2150 the brain and all of its funtions had been mapped out and research on how to utilize it to its full potential began. A celebration was held, congratulating the team of fearless and hardworking individuals who kept at it for so many years.
Around the year 2200 we had first contact with Alien Life. Unlike many of the science fiction writers of the past had predicted, our first contact could not have gone smoother. It was an intelligent race that only wished to see what was out in the universe and we had successfully created an alliance with them. 2200 was also the beginning of a new age for humanity. The brain having been mapped out in its entirety and research having gone almost too well had led to the beginning of virtualization, a term coined by one of the head developers. Virtualization was the process of changing how we percieve things, how we interact with one another, how we interact with the internet, and how we bring virtual reality into reality.
Around the year 2300 we had established friendly relations with over 100+ other civilizations throughout the known universe. It has also been 100 years since virtualization had begun, a milestone in the field. There was a large, vibrant celebration all across earth on Jan. 1st 2300 Virtualization was 'complete' in the sense that we could no longer differentiate between Real and Virtual because it was so successfully integrated. What was once only possible in Cyberspace was now possible in Reality because Reality had blended in perfectly with Virtual Reality. Crime was at its lowest it had ever been.
Around the year 2400 Earth, the Human Race, and it's many pleasures and technological prowess only rivaled by few civilizations, with which Earth made sure to ally with, had become quite popular throughout the universe. Many of the intelligent alien life forms that we had become allied with soon began to migrate to Earth, favoring its society and it's technologically adept environment. By the year 2475, Earth's population was 20 percent alien and 80 percent human.
Its the year 2547. Technology has advanced leaps and bounds since the 21st century. The internet was only the beginning. Computers are a joke of the past. Science has mapped out the entire brain and all of its mechanisms. This has led to a purely thought and emotion based control system. There is no longer a need for any physical object to connect to the internet because we are always connected to the internet through our brain. Implanted deep into the brain of every human, and every Alien that wishes to live within human society is a single chip.This chip is the accumulation of 500+ years of technological research. There is no longer a 'real world' and a 'virtual world' because the two have now become one Reality, and no one has seen the true real world for atleast 200 years. In an age where we are always connected, always interfaced into the network, where we ARE the network, what happens when a notorious organization of hackers releases a highly advanced virus?
