We were entrepreneurs, negotiating by means.
A circle of friends;
independent importers with Bhagavad Gitas.

On path to ends that summer day,
near to world-removed,
we visited ISKCON's new farm.
With chanting devotees following,
he glided more than stepped,
being separate of this fray.
Before sharing prasadam,
he lectured,
"You Americans are all-puffed-up."
Leaving gravity behind one year later,
A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada
transcended this planet on way to easy journies.

We took a shopping bag full of money
back to Gita Nagari.
Nothing has ever tasted quite as good.

Hare, Hare Krishna...
I loved this, particularly the closing:

"We took a shopping bag full of money
back to Gita Nagari.
Nothing has ever tasted quite as good."

You tell a wonderful story.

Karmic Conflict
JT-
I had my tape recorder with me, that auspicious summer day in 1976. It appeared as though Prabhupada was not even touching the ground as he stepped off his tour bus. He seemed to almost float, with devotees following in song, chanting their mantra.

The prasadam was unworldly delicious.

Following his passing, the following year, we returned to Gita Nagari.

Of course, we were living in mode outside the law, at time..burning our ISKCON incense, while smoking fruits of our illicit enterprise.

Prabhupada penned: "Easy Journey To Other Planets", which I read back in mid-70's. I also had thirty or so volumes of the Vedic literatures, including the Sanskrit classic: Bhagavad-Gita. A balancing act, perhaps, to go along with mundane material activities during that time period.

Much thanks,
Robert Willaim

Bobby7L PAIN in commenting...ARGH!
yes, I left a 10, only leave numbers when I cannot do more, for various reasonds, but lately, I am having problems with arthritis, that is not what my operation coming up in Jan. is about, but the arthritis is a PAIN, so lately because the cold has set in here where I live, my hands are still, my whole body hurts, so I am not able to always leave long comments. My meds don't work worth a darn, so I can't alway write or post as I please, need to keep warm and sometimes use gloves which screws up my writing and makes for many a booboo typo which drives me nuts, so today I am getting as much as I can in before the pain is beyond me again..then I will stop.

Anyway, I love this, again this style to me is much more to my liking and understanding than some of your shorter works...love it. Well done.

Namaste!

No easy journeys, Bobby7L...
At least none of my journeys have been easy nor do they continue to be, but I have always come out better and stronger for it and so do those who have traveled along with me....
... so it is a treat always to read this particular series of yours, my pleasure. By the way, whatever happened to Ariana?

Keep on keep on keep on writing...

Namaste,
Lena

Lena/of journies and those trekking
Lena-
Transcending this mundane material world is not easy, nor meant to be..if karma/reincarnation are believed as relative/applicable concepts. Disciplines, such as Bhakti-Yoga, as you well know, aid in process of self-realization, according to Vedic literatures/scriptures. Before we can live in mode of godliness, or even goodness, modes of ignorance and passion must first be transcended.

Of course, we are just writers and artists. What do we know?

As in "Static-free" and "Cocaine College of Knowledge", this piece deals, on one level, with money (its employment), power (or pseudo-power) and knowledge (its employment)..

As for Ariana, you may find her pennings/voice, as well as my own, over at LiteraryMary.com.

For returning to visit, many thanks.

Ciao,
Robert William
