Clipping pages with paper clips
Stapling Papers with Staples
Jogging and collating books
Good morning, Good Afternoon
May I ask whose calling?

Back ache and eyes burning
Staring at my monitor
Eight hours a day, five days
Repetition and unchanged
My head is falling

Office people are dead
Inside and out
Whores to the greed
Slaves to the bosses
Year is gone in a blink

Black suit, Brown Suit
White Shirt, Blue Tie,
Look all the same
Herds of cattle spinning
Hamster wheels in cage

Drink the day when at home
Keep my job from day to day
Sobriety will not work
Controlled workers we are
Never say no, weakness

Caffeine, Coffee, Energy Drinks
Needed to stay awake
Necessity from the big wigs
Coffee and cigarette breaks
Gossip, whisper, Talk

Rat Race Hell...
Wow, you captured it so well, you took me back to L.A. and my hell years of working on the 8th floor on Wilshire Blvd. (atleast I had the office with the view of L.A./West Hollywood/Beverly Hills/Fairfax)...have a good window view (consider my honor for my hard work and power level, the underlings have no window views in the slave world of white collar)...anyway, first love these lines the most:

"Office people are dead
Inside and out
Whores to the greed
Slaves to the bosses"

....then you ended it so perfectly well and summed it up, to which I completely identified with past memory as well:

"Caffeine, Coffee, Energy Drinks
Needed to stay awake
Necessity from the big wigs
Coffee and cigarette breaks
Gossip, whisper, Talk"

This was a slice of white collar work life all can relate to who have been there, doesn't matter what corp. or company, or whatever building, it is all the same. One is a tool, a robot, a slave, a piece of the profit pie.

Thanks for this, and sorry I haven't commented much of late, but I have been rather distracted with business and health matters.

Windown view of another office window
Nothing is better that looking out of your office window at another buildings office window watching them sit a type all day for eight hours.

the grey train the colorful train...the PURTY words, woohoo!
You made me laugh, made me think of the old Woody Allen movie (can't remember which, but one of the old ones when he used to be funny and pre-pervert years) where he is on a train, everything is black and white, all faces and people around him seem dead, and sad...he looks over at the train on the next track, and through the windows he sees that train is in color, the people are dancing, laughing, having fun! He is obviously on the wrong train, and it is a painful realization. Yep, good metaphor.

Your comment about the window after my comment led to all that memory...only I was lucky, my building, my window view had no other building in front of it, nope, no high rises, what I saw were high rises off in the distance, but all too far away from my position to see other workers in color or in black and white, but I did see a grand view of L.A., quite expansive, few high-rises, the only bad thing about where I worked at this small publishing company was that it connected to, and right next to the Israeli Embassy, and constantly there were protesters, and scary looking bomber types outside on the sidewalks as I left the office to go to lunch or whatever...we even occasionally had a bomb threat or two in which we had to leave the building....fun. Lots of fun.

But your poem here so captures the flavor, the feeling of the white collar office worker as I have known and seen...and you put it together all in 'purty words' too. 'Real purty'. I like that.
