My heartbreaks don’t seem to be working
I drove up 107
Somehow this car started
Automatically
I saw my life
Pass by the windshield
And America’s history
Tattooed my soul
And I wonder
How could they do this
To us
I specifically asked for
My break pads to be changed
So I wouldn’t hit an innocent
Bystander
And now I cant stop this thing
Without crashing into a tree
But part of me wants to
Ram this automobile into
The median
Make the airbags blowup
And see who shows up
At the scene
Would the one responsible
For my faulty break pads come
And take the blame
Or do these boys honestly plan
To continue breaking good girls
Hearts
Without feeling any remorse
It’s fine
Really it’s okay to be free
From a girl you don’t love
But do her the favor
And prevent her heartbreaks from
Flat lining completely

------
"If you get a feeling next time you see me
Do me a favor and let me know
'Cos it's hard to tell
It's hard to say
Oh well, okay"
Elliott Smith
