Iíve never been to Taos
where I understand
a community of artists
communes unsurpassed worldwide.
Iíve never been to Taos
where the light, itís said
is particularly beautiful
(so the artists, I suppose,
gather round to art about it).
Iíve never been to Taos
which Iíve heard is in
New Mexico
which is landlocked, or so I understand.
Iíve never been to Taos
because I know I am beautiful
and the light where I stand
is particularly beautiful
as is the scrape and clatter
of blacktop-working tractors
outside the mega-mall
bathed in seagull studded shellrose sunset
surprise gift of blissjoybeauty
which, because Iím beauty-full
is, I suspect, as strong
as what Iíd feel
if I went
to Taos.
