As ships passing in the night we are.

Each with our course laid out by far.

Compass geared so as not to wonder

from our highways of the sea.

Many vessels lay shipwrecked

for straying off their given destiny.

Thus leaving useless, empty containers

that was once a Captains dream,

but now broken by storms that were unseen.

Lose not sight of your port of call

or change the direct that was given to all, for only disaster lies at the end.

Stay lineal taking not an uncharted route, but if so, search for the light house.

They guide ships in, warning of dangers hidden.

Beacons of light you will see,

follow the lights to home and safety.

There is an old saying that goes somthing like this, "if you don't have something good to say, then say nothing at all."

Unless you have been selected to judge, then judge not. For you yourself shall be judged according to your own actions. "A little wisdom goes a long way."

I see you spend more time commenting or (judging)on other writers work then using your time wisely, such as posting your work.

Thanks for the viewing of ones trueself.

(something went wrong the first time I tried to post this, so I hope it doesn't come through twice)

While I don't entirely agree with midnightmare on what he said about your poem, I hope you'll forgive me for leaping to his defense? (or at least to the defense of the comments system) :-)

The point of having comments here is to get opinions on the work - good and bad. No-one here has been selected as a judge: anyone is welcome to make their own comments on any piece, whether they are qualified to do so or not. I would say, however, that if one is going to say something negative, one needs to use a little tact. *grins* I think this is maybe what upset you about the original?

As a writer, I love reading other work on this site, and I have posted many more comments than pieces of my own. And I know that most active members here have a similar ratio - reading and commenting on others is as important a part of this site as posting ones own work.

As I said, please forgive me if I said anything harsh; it was not intended to sound that way - I was just a little startled by the robustness of your reply to his comment. :-)

comments on the poem
The best thing about this poem is the flow: it has an undulating rhythm that reminds me of the ocean.

I agree a little with the earlier comment in that the final verse is a tiny bit weaker than the rest - as the lines get longer, the rhythm is disrupted slightly. It's not a big problem really, but I think it might be improved by splitting it into two verses.

So my overall feeling is that I liked it. Score 7/10.

Thank you for your comment.
Prophetic Interpretation of The Light Houses.
Once given life, we all walk around in what one might say darkness, until we discover our purpose of life. Before life it's self our lives have been pre-ordained. From beginning to the end. But by ones own choice even knowing your purpose in life we have our own free will.
Light Houses (Churches are also called,"Light Houses."
Beacons of light (Are the children of God, that are called to help those in need.)

Light House
~JGP~
Very nice poem here. Spud is right though,
about letting your light shine. because it happened to me a couple of times when I first came here. But I understood right off hand this is a writing site. over-all, I love it. Also, I visited your web-site. it is tremendously wonderful. I love it. Keep up the great work for God, He knows your heart, thoughts, and your tomorrow's.

Be Bless
