Used to be a hot tomato
Guys wanted me on their arm
Now I'm just a couch potato

Never was as smart as Plato
My smile was full of charm
Used to be a hot tomato

Rid myself of that Scorpio
Thought I'd buy a chicken farm
Now I'm just a couch potato

Years ago when no meant no
Guys never did me harm
Used to be a hot tomato

When nature calls ya gotta go
Having trouble keeping warm
Now I'm just a couch potato

Listening to oldies on the radio
Forgetting to set my alarm
Used to be a hot tomato
Now I'm just a couch potato

This is very cool. I just noticed your other (dada) piece. Sorry I didn't get to it sooner. I am distracted these days with limited time like everyone else it seems. I am going to go check it out right now. Again, I like this piece here very much.

oh, Kacee! the you-ness of this is resounding! this was an absolute hoot, and I applaud anyone brave enough to attempt the villanelle challenge... God knows I found it difficult enough. you make it look so easy! and it’s funny too.

Exactly right for a villanelle, this "then and now" thing, and easy to read, and fun, and it only sets poetry back 800 years ago because before that the villanelle wasn't invented, hahahahaha! You, Kacee, certainly reinvent it with flair and gusto! Here's to the hot tomato on the couch!
