I sit in the kitchen,
The food is cooking.
I just got home from the hospital where they gave me the news,
The news that changed my life.
I’m stuck as me,
I’m stuck in my body.
The disease flows through my blood.
No cure,
No hope,
I am dead.
I love you, so much.
I love you so much.
I don’t want to leave you, I don’t want you to be left alone.
I wanted to be with you forever, so how,
So how.
How can I leave in the hell of knowing you’re with someone else,
Someone better probably,
While I float,
Float in the air,
The disease will kill me, it will eventually.
Why give it the satisfaction?
Now I see you coming home, coming home from your long day.
You walk into the front door, I smile, my fake smile.
“I made dinner!” I say with my fake smile, “I hope you’re hungry!”
And you sit down, you take the plate and put on the food,
You took your favourite food,
I knew you would.
The smirk in my mind gives me my satisfaction.
You eat the food like there’s no tomorrow,
How ironic.
You finish it and you feel a little sick,
You feel a little tired, as do I after sharing your meal
Smiling while eating it with you.
Giving you the kiss,
Here and there.
And now, you feel sick,
You puke, I take your hand and tell you everything will be alright,
Trust me,
I’m a doctor.
Now,
I take you upstairs to our bed,
I lay you down in the silk sheets,
I lay beside you,
Your head rests on my sholder, your eyes begin to close,
I feel my breath become shallow, too
My hand is placed on your chest,
I feel your heart slow,
Slow,

Slow,
Stop.
I feel myself, slip away with you.
I am falling asleep now,
I mustn’t worry now,
I won’t be in hell knowing the truth anymore,
As we will be together,
It worked,
You didn’t even know, but sadly the house keeper will know.
Tomorrow, when she comes in to clean the kitchen,
The kitchen is always the first room she cleans.
Right open,
On the table,
She will find the document.
Given right from the Montréal General Hospital,
On top of which,
She will find,
Two empty bottles,
5mL Oxycontin
10mL Morphine

touching
i really loved the way this was written and spaced, it reminded me of how a real mind works in fragments. This was deep and addressed a bigger issue than the crafty writitng let on.
