I woke up as the sun hit my pale face, waking me from the nightmare that has haunted me every night since the accident. I still couldn’t fully register what had happened that night. How Kasey and I had survived with a few injuries, while our parents were killed. All we had left now were each other, and an invisible biological Father. Who was no where to be found.
I could care less whether they found him or not. He was dead to me. Who leaves their wife four months pregnant with their second child? I was only one when he left. I don’t remember him much and nor do I want to. We may have the same last name but I didn’t consider him my Father. My real Father was Bryan Stewart, who had married my Mom when I was just starting Kindergarten.
Before the accident, my parents and I had a huge fight. They had caught me sneaking back into the house after going to a party that I wasn’t suppose to go to. They had grounded me and I acted as any rebellious teenager would. I told them I hated them.
I never got to tell them that I didn’t hate them, and that I was sorry. Now I never would. They were gone and never coming back and I had to live with that for the rest of my life.
I groaned and fell back on my bed. This was the last time I would be waking up in this room. The room that I had called mine for seventeen years.
“Karma are you up yet?” Kasey asked as she walked into my room.
I sat up again and scooted over to make room for her. It was obvious she had been crying. Her blue-green eyes that matched my own were red and darker than usual. Her eyes were a little swollen.
“I’ll be back in a minute, “I said standing up.” Stay here.”
I went into my bathroom and looked through my make-up bag and found what I was looking for. I came out with it and told her to close her eyes.
“What are you doing?!” She said backing away after I put a little under her eyes.
“Stop moving. It’ll make the swelling go down and make you feel more relaxed.”
After I finished putting it around her eyes the doorbell rang.
“That must be the detective already. Can you get it? I’m going to go take a quick shower and then be down in a few.”

Three hours later we were packed up and ready to leave. Kasey and I were standing out in the front looking up at the house we would probably never see again.
“I know it’s hard. But things will get better soon.” The detective said to us, trying to cheer us up.
“How do you know?”I asked before I could stop myself.
“I’ve been through this myself. I was a little younger than you when it happened, and I had an Aunt to go live with. But I still know how it feels to lose your Parents.”
“How did they die?” Kasey asked biting her lip.
“Kasey-“
“She’s fine, Karma,” He said looking over at me and smiling. "They were both just at the wrong place at the wrong time.”
I looked over at Kasey to see her reaction, but she just looked away and got into the car. I followed her but as soon as I got to the car the detective said my name. I turned around.
“You’ll be fine where you are going. Okay? Keep an eye on your sister. “
“I will. When can I get my car?” I asked looking over at my black SUV.
“It’ll be there in a few days. But remember you can’t go anywhere without your card. Never forget it anywhere. “
I nodded and got into the car. Kasey looked back at the house until we turned the corner, then straightened up and crossed her arms. I had already said my good-byes to the house. I wasn’t looking back on the past. It would only hurt more.

“Here are your tickets, there will be someone waiting to pick you up when you get there. I will come and visit you in three weeks. Everything you need is in those packets and just a couple of extra things.” He shook our hands and smiled. Then he turned around and disappeared.
“Extra things?” I asked looking in the bags. “That bastard gave us money, when I told him that we didn’t need it.”
I closed the bag and shook my head. He was definitely going to get it when I saw him. I picked up my bags and started walking off towards our entrance to the plane. Kasey followed me having a little trouble with her bags.
One of the attendants saw us and ran over to take our bags; he carried them over to the bag collector and dropped them off. Then escorted us to a plane and waited until we were settled in.
“He was cute,” Kasey whispered beside me.
“Kasey you think every guy is cute.”
“I do not!” She yelled frowning.
I rolled my eyes and took out my lap top.
After an hour of being on the plane Kasey nudged me. She had been having problems with her lap top for a little while.
“What?” I asked.
“Can you give it a little energy for me? Please! I was talking to Tessa and it died.”
“Kasey! Not so loud, and no I won’t. I’m not going to use my powers in public. What if someone saw me?”
“No one will. Please Karma?”
“No, why don’t you use mine? “ I asked getting it and handing it to her.
I could live through the flight without my lap top, especially if she would stop fidgeting.
“Karma you don’t have this chat down loaded onto yours. It would take forever to download it too. Just give it a little bit of energy, just this once. Please!”
She started to give me the puppy dog face. I started laughing.
“I can’t resist a face like that, you look like a frog.”
She frowned, but smiled again as I went to get her lap top.
I put my hand over it and there was a purple glow as I gave it energy. I gave it back to her and started looking around nervously to see if anyone had seen me. My eyes locked onto this teenage boys a few seats away. He was staring at me with intense blue eyes. I gaped at him, my eyes huge. This guy was gorgeous. His hair was black with blue highlights and it reached his shoulders and his skin was a translucent ivory, and his eyes. They were angry; he’d saw me using my powers.
I bit my lip and turned away. What if he told someone? Kasey and I could ne exposed. No! He’d only seen me, so if he did tell someone then I could just say the he was jet-lagged, and if someone did manage to believe him I could deny it. They couldn’t prove it. Could they?
So many questions were going through my head. I looked up at his movement, he was laughing. I glared at him. What was so funny?
I looked away and crossed my arms.
“What’s wrong with you?” My sister said looking at me with a weird look on her face. She looked over to where I was staring and rolled her eyes.
