(Poetry plus a bit of a rant added )

Avaricious sisters sued nursing home after our mother was killed by neglect in that establishment.
I was dragged into it , being a sibling.
They obliterated younger brother from the estate
How can a woman with Alzheimers change her will?
She couldn't even remember how to spell her name...
Always about the money with them.
My hope was to reinstate the family.
Impossible chore due to resentment against me,
after being told by my ex, I was dad's favorite.
All I ever heard dad say to my ex was,"You took my housekeeper."
A modified maid from what I understand...
What's so special about that?"
As it turns out, an offer was made to the estate.
The only people to profit will be the lawyer and the welfare dept.
There may be a pittance left to be divided by the sisters...
A shock to the others , who thought they would get thousands.
Mother's life in the end was worth no more than a pile of dung.
So I will take the few bucks allotted to me and celebrate my mother's life.
Anyone want to share a Happy Meal with me?

That was great. It sounds like you have your own matters. I like writing. Im not much of a poet but I was always able to read Shakespear really well. I put my righting in the form of songs. I love to sing. I love rock and roll. That was a very open and personal poem. A great work. LAter

This is so sad, Kacee. I have heard stories like this before though. My husband's father's sisters did this to him, tried to push him out of the will, treated him very badly, and manipulated their mother on her death bed to change the will, but in the end he did get something because his mother had a lot of Illinois farm land and properties, so there was enough to go around, yet what he got was nothing compared to what his two older sisters walked away with. It is such a shame what greed will bring out in people and how it can wreck so much family dysfunction. I am dealing with will issues myself, but they are long after the fact, and it may be a few years before it is settled, I am hoping for a friendly settlement.

Anyway, thanks for posting this here and sharing this part of your feelings as painful as it must all be for you. It is horrid what happens in nursing homes, and that the state and attorneys can walk away with everything. You can't put a price on someones worth. Her life was worth what you remember her by, and I am sure her soul is doing just fine and could care less about the petty goings on in this physical world, still is is so sad.

Can I have your pickle?
Using the Happy Meal at the end embodied three or four things at once.

The meal, itself, is for children, who, now, as adult siblings, are who is involved here. The word Happy in the name of the meal is ironic. There is the implication, also, that there will be no companions for this meal, unless one of the readers accepts your invitation to share it with you. This is decidedly not a family dinner. And there is the summation of the value of the split in the value of the meal.

So that reference did quite a lot.

Not to me, there isn't.

Your mother's Alzheimer's died when she did. There's something to celebrate!

Too bad we can't "delete" unpleasant past events from memory...

I loved the realism in this. Untainted by pessimism. Or deploring complaints. You are a blessing to your family! Lucky them, Kacee!
