To all my friends at lit...old and new...
Time for a new thread...Hope I have some takers...I have to rant about people who put junk warnings on the net before checking to see if they are true...I check for them and tell them when they are false...and here is what I get..."WELL, IT COULD HAPPEN." Yeah, and I could be transported by a whirlwind to another state...I'm sooo peeved I could spit nickles and stomp grapes...
I wrote this little story to see if it would go around the net at least once...and see how many idiots would believe it...I'm done...Now it's your turn...Who or what pushes your buttons? Don't let it stew in your belly...get it out...Scream, holler, shout...

THRILL SEEKERS GAME PROVES DEADLY

Last night , Sadie Lipshitz, 83, from Hockey Puck , PA. was grabbed as she walked out of the "Only A Dollar" store at the East Side Strip Mall by a gang of ruffians. They stole her purse and shoved her into a shopping cart, rolled her down the hill , into on coming traffic...where she smashed head-on into a semi truck owned by Big Jake Bodkin. He was devastated but unhurt. EMTs scooped Sadie up with a broom and a shovel...She was the third elderly person in as many weeks to meet with an untimely death at the hands of this gang....

The first was Sam Schlepcovich, 85, as he came from "Tobacco R US" at the Chew and Spit Strip Mall in Camel, PA....Last week Lil Beaver, 79, was mauled as she exited the " Look Where You're Going " Eye Boutique at the Looky -See Strip Mall in Trippersville,PA....

I'm starting to wonder if this isn't a Genocide Conspiracy....We must protect our elderly citizens...You wouldn't want this to happen to your Grandma or Pap...Would You?

I suggest you accompany the elderly and carry a couple of rolls of quarters tied in a pillow case...You won't have to get real close to take the perps out...Now let's get out there and protect our elderly...

Thank you Pen , for being my first guest...I met a guy on myspace who lost everything when he fell for a Nigerian scam...They cleaned out his savings and checking and stole his identity...started new credit accounts and charged up a storm...Please people...never give out any info over the net or phone...and don't lend money unless you can afford to loose it...and end up on Judge Mathis...

This one scam was closer to home...my ex and I got a letter years ago telling us we won a motorcycle ...call this number...my ex told me to give it a try...so when I called ...they asked me if I had a credit card ..I told them I did but was not giving them any info...fast talker that this guy was and dumb as I was... All he wanted to know was my expiration date...so I gave it to him , thinking how can that hurt...and hung up. Something was eating at me so I called my credit card company...and told them what happened and asked if I should change my credit card numbers...The lady said no but don't answer that letter...here's what happens...they already have the other info on your card and all they need is your expiration date...if you send in for the FREE PRIZE , your credit card gets charged and you might get billed for a lot more...Never heard from those people again...Thank God...Kacee

Buyer Beware Rant thread
If it seems too good to be true...IT IS...If you have to give money to get money...DON'T DO IT... NOTHING IS FREE...Or should I say...the only thing that is free is NOTHING...

Here's a scam my sister and late brother-in-law fell into because it was presented to them by a (so called) friend...They were both out of work and had 4 children to support , money was tight, so when my sister's friend came up with an easy way to make a couple thousand dollars fast it seemed like a good deal...Here is how that worked (a chain letter scam) You send an UNSIGNED money order for $250 to this guy's address and put your name at the bottom of the list and when your name comes up you will get $2500...My sister's girlfriend told her she got paid once so she was going to do it again...My sister had not received a penny (and never did) but the girl talked her into sending another $250 ...From the beginning my other sister and I were trying to tell them it was a scam and not to get involved but they wouldn't listen to us and ended up loosing $500...Here's the kicker...My sister is still friends with this girl who I believe was getting kick-backs from the scammers...Please don't fall for any money scams..and don't lend or give people money because they say they love you... take your money and RUN...Kacee

This is a short stated one; The multi-billion dollar cosmetics industry which reaps much of its profits from their fabulously ridiculous "claims" that their "rejuvenating" anti-aging creams, foundations, under-eye anti-wrinkle formulas, etc., actually work! Selling a pack of fountain of youth lies to aging women everywhere who spend massive amounts of money on these useless, overpriced items, that have no real effect what so ever in retarding the aging process or making a woman look any younger than she actually is, and at the same time reinforcing the brainwashing notion into society's heads that there is something wrong with aging, and that beauty is only found in youth. Corporate greed at work everywhere...instilling fear and then exploiting that fear for their own profits! And, don't even get me started on the whole multi-billion dollar diet industry and all the products and gadgets and drugs there in. And it goes on and on...

Save your money. Fountain of youth/anti-aging products DO NOT WORK! The only thing that does work is cosmetic surgery...and that is bullshit too, because it can be dangerous to your health, your very life in fact! And it is very expensive. Just more brainwashing of societal expectations and exploitation of women's fears. It's Okay to get older. It is natural. It is a part of living. When you put on some make-up, don't expect miracles....it will make you look a little nicer and prettier maybe, but you will never be 25 again, thank G-d!!!

Though I gotta say, as much as I hate all the youth oriented industries...I do love my hair-dyes. I think I see hair as more of a art form than anything else. I like color. I think I will keep it that way.

MAKE UP -rant thread
Lena and Eric ,

Thanks for your input...I always used baby oil or lotion to moisturize my face and body as it was readily available when my kids were growing up...Ever try honey as a mask on face and hands? Real moisture there unless you are allergic...Now I use Vitamin E cream...NO ANIMAL TESTING... and if all else fails ...plain old olive oil does the trick...Don't forget hydrate the skin by drinking lots of water...I use minimal makeup ...mainly to cover some red blotches that come with age and my biopsy and laser surgery scars...when I got tested for Lupus...I couldn't believe when I saw my friends at a recent funeral ( that comes with age too) They raved over my complexion...I see an old woman when I look in the mirror but I'm going with the flow...growing old gracefully ... I get these fake-o emails from friends and relatives every now and then. Sometimes they're political, sometimes about Internet "dangers," sometimes about religion, money, famous people, etc. etc. I have one word for anyone to remember before passing on an email chain:

Snopes.

Got to www.snopes.com and check it out. There's all kinds of bull-dooky screaming around the Internet. Do you part to stop this crap, rather than spreading it. If somebody sends you a dubious email, check it out. If it turns out to be a fake, politely respond -- just to the sender. Don't do a "reply all." Two reasons: one, best not to embarass the sender. Two, everyone else on the list doesn't need to get bothered *again.*

Also... as to the beauty industry... It's interesting where we each draw the lines between "necessary," "ok," "wasteful" and "downright evil." I like natural looking women of all ages, but I also like a little paint and dye. So I suppose I just don't know. Not today, anyways.

See, I did not say I am against wearing make-up or using hair dye. I just said basically I am tired of the exploitation found in cosmetics products such as so-called "rejuvenating creams" that promise unattainable miracles. Having once been in marketing and advertising, I know what evil and deception goes into the SELL, and I am disgusted by it, particularly in the cosmetics and diet industries because it is so exploitative of women's vulnerabilities and because it perpetuates unreasonable expectations of what women 'should" look like verses the real world non-celebrity/model reality.

Some people are too lazy to check snopes.com to see if their crappy email is true...It sounds good so they pass it on and on and on...Here's where I disagree with you...If they are that stupid and lazy , someone should embarrass them...maybe that would awaken them out of their coma...Or maybe I'm just losing my patience as I'm getting older...Thanks for your input...good to see you...Kacee

I thought I would add a few tips in my last answer to you ...just so the ladies wouldn't run and buy some rubber face cream that professes to to be an automatic "face lift" from a Snake Oil salesman , who takes advantage of a woman's vanity...Nothing can make you look 25 again except a whole body lift...and even if someone gave me a free one ...I don't think I'd take them up on it because on the pain and I might end up with 50 pounds of ugly fat (lyposucted (sp) out of my body and yards and yards of usless rotting flesh in a bucket at the end of the operating table...and still end up looking like Marty Feldman...

As for hair dyes...It's cheaper for me to buy wigs...I like to change my hair color and style sooo often I'd have no hair left...

PS...I was watching Doo Wop music on PBS last night and when I saw the lady who sang . "To Know Him Is To Love Him" I wanted to cry...She had her very fine hair dyed some kind of orangey red, and so much make up on ...she looked like a clown...and still looked 70...Kacee

AND ANOTHER THING
I had to bitch about another subject eating at my craw...I do have some married friends (guys) online...Most of them are respectful...Then an email popped up from a site I thought I terminated from my list...I checked it out and it was this married guy...and I told him right from the get go that I will not do the cyber-sex thing with anyone and if that was his purpose , he could just forget it...He assured me he was not that way ...He never told me anything about himself...(which should have been a red flag) I looked at his profile and found out he was a cop...So I teased him about being a PO-LEESE OSSIFER ...and we laughed...then he started with the I want to hug you and kiss you crap ..Of course I had to remind him ...he was MARRIED...Whoa! then he got angry...OOOPs! It's time to end this ... last night I got this note...HI DOLL! I didn't answer him... Although we live clear across the country...I don't need an internet COP STALKER on my tail...After all this stuff in the news about cops killing their wives and girlfriends...I'm callin' it quits on that one and this time getting rid of my account on that site...Afterall , I don't want to be in a blue barrel floating down the Shenango ...that would give a new meaning to ,"Proud Mary's" ...Rollin', rollin, rollin down the river...do do do do do do...Kacee

Kacee all you need to do is go to his profile and go to BLOCK and click, it will make it so he cannot contact you. Now, unless you gave him your personal physical address on the net or were too open with information where he might put a few clues together, then I seriously doubt he can harm you in any way....don't worry about it, it will be OK, just move on, you know the flag warnings, so no worries.

Big head JewFro~ Kacee Thread...
Hi Kacee,

I wish I could wear wigs, but unfortunately I have this huge head, you'd think with all my extra skull space I'd be a whole lot smarter than I am, eh? Not so. Thankfully though I have been blessed with an incredible amount of thick hair, and it doesn't seem to be getting any thinner with age, in fact, whenever it becomes foggy or the air is most after a rain, I end up with a massive curly frizzy JewFro much like "Grandmama of the the Addams Family", check out her JewFro in the pic. When I am about 90 or so, I think I will go ahead and let it go grey and let it be JewFro to its full capacity;-)

By the way, there is one product on the market right now that is my hair savior, keeps the friz in check, can't remember what it is called, something like FRIZ-EASE, maybe? Hair products I am a sucker for, anything to keep the mop under control and looking human is all I care about...and I am a sucker for the price too, don't matter what they charge, I will pay it, I have to.

Don't have anything to rant about what comes into my inbox. I delete before opening anything I know I don't need to see. If God Him/Her self sent me an email titled "find out how you will die", I would delete that too! I'm not the curious type.

I do, however want to pick up on your 'tidbits" which I found partly disturbing. I know you were having fun with them but some of them are not funny to me...

Today before you say an unkind word think of somebody who can't speak. Okay, I'm now thinking of all the Head and Neck Cancer patients I've cared for, and none of them could speak, and all were too weak to learn sign language by the time they got to Palliative Care, and none of them were lazy.

Before you complain about the taste of your food, think of somebody who has nothing to eat. Okay, the Head and Neck cancer patients again. They cannot put food in their mouths (sometimes they have no mouths left) therefore they cannot taste and must be tube fed. Food that doesn't taste good because it's too bland or too spicy at least gets into your mouth so you are able to determine its taste for yourself.

Before you complain about your husband or wife, think of someone who's crying out to God for a companion (and then let God work His/Her miracles through your husband/wife, hehehe)

Today before you complain about life, think of someone who went too early to heaven. Yes. I do that. Every day. Then again, there are billions who go to heaven too late. Those, for example, who die off very very slowly over a period of 20 years of Alzheimer's...

Before you complain about children think of someone who desires children but are barren. Someone barren who desires children can opt for international adoption: 26 thousand dollars for the first Chinese female infant. Only 18 thousand for the next one. A bargain, if you ask me.

Before you argue about your dirty house someone didn't clean or sweep think of the people living in the streets. The city doesn't sweep the streets either!!!

Before whining about the distance you drive, think of someone walking, etc. Whomsoever whines about the distance they drive usually whines about the price of gas, primarily. And secondarily, about roads closed for construction, and their inevitable detours...

And when you are tired and complain about your job think of the unemployed, the disabled and those who wish they had your job. There is nobody who wishes they had my job. Everybody I meet tells me they could never do what I do.

And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down put a smile on your face and thank God you're alive and still around. But then, don't get in my face because I'll tell you your smile is fake.

Ahhhhhhh! That feels better...Sorry for my impudence, but there are as many ways of seeing things as there are people, I think...

Arm pits , fleas, and chain letters
Thanks to Eric and Meghan for their input...The only reason I open certain chain letters is because they come from people I consider friends...I delete most of them but somedays when I feel antsy I must admit I do let them get to me...I love my dear friend (my very first email pal ever) but must admit she gets to me when she sends me stuff about husbands and wives...when she knows I'm no longer married ...feels like someone is rubbing my butt with sandpaper when they tell me to appreciate my husband...

I must say another thing before I close, I used to care for terminally ill people in their homes...I treated them like royalty . pampered them , loved them protected them and even stayed at night (No Charge ) so they would have some one there if they woke up and were frightened...I cared for my dying father who passed in 98 and my mother with Alzheimers until my health started failing...My problem is I try to bring a little humor into situations that hurt me because if I don't ....I'll cry and I'd rather be laughing...Kacee
